You know the movie, "Up?" The old man and the little boy scout end up at Fenton's Ice Creamery at the end of the movie. That's a real place down in Berkley and we LOVE it! My favorite thing to order is the toasted almond ice cream with jersey topping (malt, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce) and a side order of caramel. Sooo yummy! Well, Fenton's is obviously quite the drive from our little house so the kids and I figured out a recipe for toasted almond ice cream. And let me tell you...it was delicious! The kids had a blast using the ice cream maker and we all had fun devouring our treat. |

Post that deliciousness!!
Truly this stuff tasted just like Fentons toasted almond. The Jersy we'd perfected some time ago, and the caramel sauce will need a tweak or two to get the consistency right.
Usually it's me that "ruins" a good treat by learning how to make it at home. Half the fun being the going and getting it. But this time it was Sarah. And I don't think she minds cause Fentons is quite a trip.
The Jersy is easy though usually it's to taste so I'm guessing on measurements:
Whip heavy cream ~1cup
Malt ~2tbs
Chocolate Syrup ~till sweet enough
Here's a link to for the ice cream recipe. Next time I'll double it as it only made a half batch for my big ice cream maker.
